One of the main goals of SAP consultant that work in Bangalore and rest of India is to work in SAP outside India. Usually the target of SAP consultants is Europe. Europe is one of the busiests SAP markets in the world and you can find a project if you speak english.
But why is it so dificult?
The main dificulty to find a SAP job or SAP project in Europe is the work permit. The SAP market for new jobs and freelancer jobs is not as good as it was 2 or 3 years ago. Back in 2007-2008 the SAP market was crazy and companies would hire everyone because the market was dry of resources. You could easily see a company sponsoring SAP experts for their projects, paying expenses and offering good conditions.
At this moment the market is full of free European SAP consultant, who speak local language and have local experience. Only for this reason it is harder for Indian consultants to find a job in Europe.
So how do I get a SAP project in Europe?
You can be lucky enough to work with a rare skill and have a good CV or you can wait and wait. The best way to work in Europe is to develop your english and/or learn a new language. But make sure you are understood as european usually complain Indians have a dificult accent.
There is also a point where agencies and clients seem to not like. It is big CV’s where you say you do everything and work with all. Keep your CV simple and to what you worked on. If you are an ABAP there is a good article about writting a good ABAP CV. Keep it simple and don’t ad hundreds of keywords and modules.
But the best way to work in Europe is to have a job with one big SAP consultancy (IBM, Tata, Accenture, Logica,…) and show your interest and skills to work in Europe. You see hundreds of Indian SAP consultant working in Europe through this companies.

Business software firm SAP has seen his India branch grow at double-digit rate in the fourth quarter of 2009. SAP Bangalore office and practise was a major help on this amazing grow while revenue in other parts of the world were slipping.
SAP main headquarters were quick to respond and realigned India with Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) markets after breaking it away from Asia Pacific (APAC) region.
“Today, EMEA contributes 50% of our revenues and so these markets have higher allocation of resources. Looking at the kind of growth that India is witnessing, we do not want it to be limited by resource constraint. This is the reason we have aligned it (India) to EMEA from January 1,” said Peter Gartenberg, managing director of SAP India, explaining why SAP India was taken from APAC region.
This means that SAP India’s revenue would get reported with EMEA.
SAP India has offices in Bangalore, New Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai.

To find a job within SAP in Bangalore you will need to have received training in SAP, have experience in SAP or be prepared to learn SAP.
